i swear i tried to draw her face multiple times but it never seemed to come out right. and now that i'm looking at what i did finish, it doesn't look quite right either. grrr. here's hoping next week will be better. new model, new pose. maybe i should focus just on the face??

doublicates & triplicates

for the past 2 nights, z and i have been going through our combined kitchen things. seeing how we were both living alone, we've got doubles of many things as well as a few triples here and there. the biggest issue we have is that our kitchen is small (and i mean tiny!) so there's no room for storing food after you've put aways dishes, bowls, glasses, & mugs. we went to crate & barrel, the container store & ikea to try and find a pot rack + shelves + creative ways to store all our stuff. ended up buying a few open shelves at ikea that we can use as pot racks and shelves both. so far, that's working okay but now we've got to the point of going through our food/pantry items. we have 13 cans of tuna. not sure why we have that many other than they must have been on sale.

we've got all our food in plies in the middle of our floor, segregated by type (kinda). all our wine sorted by type. all our alcohol is out too. we barely have any room to walk around. we bought a few small wine racks that'll hold ~30 bottles and although it's not pretty, it'll make storing the rest (in the front closet?) a little easier. our food won't fit into the only available cabinets so we'll have to store or get rid of some of that. the alcohol, well, i guess we can drink most of the extra stuff while we unpack so that should all work out. we just need to choose a place to put the remainder.

we haven't got to any of the other rooms yet so hopefully we can get this wrapped up pretty soon. (and we can start cooking again!!)

so i'm a thief

but i need internet and mine has been shut off. we're down to the wire and z and i are getting really frazzled. we both need a nice comfortable place to come home to and we won't get that in our current state of upheaval. her dsl is off, my phone & dsl are now off (and i'm stealing from a neighbor!). we've been making trips to our new place with loaded up cars so we can move the more fragile things as well as the things that we'd rather the movers not touch. the tv, dsl, cable, & tivo have all been hooked up in our new abode and are working so i think we'll be in fine shape come thursday.

now if i could just finish packing...
